The Great Thanksgiving

November 30, 2009
25 weeks old

We spent Thanksgiving in Sayre this year (like always) hanging out at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Noah had a ball with everyone and all the attention he got. Can anyone say spoiled baby? Well, I guess that was to be expected. He didn't get to try much Thanksgiving food this year, but I did give him a couple of bites of mashed potatoes. He seemed to like them but the texture was a little weird for him at first. He gags when that happens, which I get a kick out of. Maybe that's mean, but he's just really funny. Such a drama king! Just like his daddy!

He started babbling a lot this week. He is now good at saying "ba" and "ma" along with all of his vowel sounds. He will sometimes repeat me if I say one of his sounds to him, unless he is too distracted by something. He is also sticking his tongue out and spitting like crazy all the time. I'm so proud!

He is going through another no sleeping phase. I'm not sure what it is this time, but it's making it hard for me to get anything done during the day. He will only sleep for about 20 minutes then he wakes up. He's still tired but he REFUSES to go back to sleep. So then I get to try to entertain an extremely cranky baby for most of the day. I love spending time with him but it gets a little exhausting.

When I was looking through my pictures of Thanksgiving I realized a lot of them are pretty funny. Noah was making all kinds of weird faces. Here are a few of my favorites:

A year later...

November 23, 2009

Almost Thanksgiving again! Wow! I remember last year on Thanksgiving I told my family that I was pregnant and we were all imagining what it would be like next year with a little baby. Now here we are, a year later, and we are all having so much fun with Noah. It seems like he has grown a ton these past couple of weeks. I can barely carry him around for an extended time anymore. My arms are killing me! He is such a little chunk! I took him to the Dr with me last week and the PA was holding him. She was like, "He's really, umm, stout." Yeah, I know. He's huge.

Hopefully, this means he will be really good at sports, not to mention a very smart kid, and get that full ride to college.

Anyway, he is doing absolutely great! We couldn't be any more blessed than we are. He is so smart, super cute, and so engaged and active. He has learned a new skill --- throwing a temper tantrum when we take a toy away that he wants. It's really funny but it kinda worries me that he is already doing this so much. His favorite right now is this monkey book that my mom got him. He LOVES it! I'm not sure why, but I can barely let him play with it anymore because he gets so worked up about it. It's impossible to get him away from it. Other things he loves: my cell phone, my plate when I'm eating, my jacket, the remote, Max and Zoe, pretty much anything that he's not supposed to play with. He has a ton of toys but all he wants to play with are the things he can't have. Typical.

He's still doing great with his baby food and is over his bottle strike. N
o problems with eating at the moment. He's really loving his cereal and baby food and doesn't have that much interest in nursing anymore. He still does it but it's hard to get him to nurse more than a few minutes. He just wants to play with me.

He is so much fun to play with right now. I am teaching him how to clap and he's almost got it. He knows what I'm saying and he reaches his hands out to clap and spreads out his fingers but he can't quite bang them together by himself yet. He recognized all the songs I sing to him regularly and gets really excited when he hears them. His favorites are ABC's and Jesus Loves Me. He has also learned how to jump and spin in his exersaucer. He really loves that. He is also still really into the Baby Einstein videos. He yells and talks to the animals on the screen the entire time it's on. It's great for the morning when I'm trying to get stuff done. His teeth are coming in and I can see them very clearly now. I'm thinking that there are more on the way soon by the way he acts. He is also very clearly favoring his left side so I'm thinking that we have a lefty on our hands.

All bundled up

Fun with Grandma and Grandpa

Five Months Old and Two Teeth!

November 11, 2009

Noah is now officially 5 months old. He's just growing up so fast! I don't really like it but it's still so much fun. It is getting harder and harder to take his birthday pictures. This month it was nearly impossible because he grabs everything and immediately puts it in his mouth. The sign is a little slimey but it does the job. That was actually the second one. He totally destroyed the first one I made.

We had an exiting discovery this week...two little baby teeth coming in on the bottom. I can't believe he is already getting teeth. He still seems way too young for that but I guess he's not. He has been a little fussy since they've been coming in but nothing too bad. He's having a little trouble staying asleep at night and he refuses to take a bottle but that's about it. The bottle thing may not be because of the teeth --- who knows...he's a very stubborn child already.

He is still doing great with his baby food. Now he is up to 4 tablespoons of cereal a day with 1 jar of baby food. I haven't found anything yet that he won't eat. I hope that means he won't be a picky eater. I can't stand that! He's had all the veggies and now we are doing pears, apples, and bananas. He does like the fruit a little better but he eats the veggies just fine. We took him to Eishens a few days ago to celebrate Matt's 34th b-day and we gave him a sweet pickle to suck on. He really liked that!

He is so big now but I'm not sure how much he weighs. I can tell he's growing again because my arms have started to hurt again. We are going to have to be moving up to a big boy carseat in a few weeks I have a feeling.

Other new things...hmm...he has started to scoot a little bit and he sits up pretty well by himself now. Other than that he is just perfecting all his skills like grabbing
things and throwing his weight around to get what he wants. Little stinker!!

21 Weeks Old

November 2, 2009

Noah is growing up so fast. I can't believe it's been almost 5 months already. He is just SO big! He is really becoming more aware and interactive with us. I know I say that too much but every week he just notices more and does more. Now he is grabbing EVERYTHING! No more earrings for me! We had one incident with a hoop earring last week so I learned that lesson the hard way. He loves playing with his feet now and grabs them and sucks on his toes all the time. He really loves all his toys but his favorite things to play with are still his hands, feet, and my face. I think he discovered that he also has a face this week because he has started to rub his forehead and hair all the time now. He also plays with his nose a lot. He LOVES looking in the mirror at himself now so I prop him up in front of it all the time and he just cracks up. He really likes to hit and grab at himself so I have to be a little careful or he bumps his head on it. He has started to bring his legs up underneath himself when he is on his tummy so I don't think it will be too much longer before he starts trying to scoot and crawl. He got a new toy this week - an exersaucer! He really likes sitting up in it but he hasn't figured out how to turn or jump in it yet. He has also started to pay more attention to Max and Zoe and laughs at them every time he sees them. We were sitting in the chair last night and Max was lounging on the floor next to us so I let Noah lean over the arm to watch him and he laughed at Max laying there for about 15 minutes. Max was a little confused but he enjoyed all the attention. Noah had another big first this week - he got to try baby food for the first time. He was doing so great with his cereal that I thought I would try it and see. He actually really liked it, especially the sweet potatoes. He also liked the peas quite a bit but not as much. Two bad things about baby food: 1) when they spit up it is orange and green and it stains EVERYTHING! 2) their poop stinks!

Happy Halloween!

November 1, 2009

We had a GREAT first Halloween with Noah. We did more stuff this year for Halloween than I've done in a really long time. I forgot how much fun it is when you're a kid. First, Matt and I took Noah to a Yukon pumpkin patch on Friday night to get a couple more pumpkins to carve. We decided to start a new family tradition and carve one pumpkin each the night before Halloween. It was a lot of fun but really hard! I haven't done that in a long time either and I totally forgot how difficult and messy it is. We couldn't even get the tops cut off with a regular knife so we ended up using an electric jigsaw. Maybe a little dangerous but it worked great! Here's a picture of the finished pumpkins:

Then on Saturday my mom, Abby, Kelsey, my aunt, Kristie, Mum Mum, Mary, and Matthew came over to celebrate Mum Mum's 79th birthday and go trick-or-treating. We had so much fun! We will definitely have to do it again next year. The kids had a blast going trick-or-treating and mom had even more fun handing out candy at the house. I think it was her first time to do that since they have always lived in the country. I took Noah in the stroller along with the other two kids. He really enjoyed himself and liked looking at everyone all dressed up. He was a giraffe this year but he didn't get any candy. We'll save that for next year!

Incredible Pizza

October 28, 2009

Today we went to Noah's first birthday party for Keaton who turned 3 this week! We met the gang at Incredible Pizza for some fun. I didn't know if Noah would really like anything like that yet but he seemed to have a lot of fun once he got used to all the noise. He rode the merry-go-round and played a couple of games with Daddy. His favorite thing by far was a little red car that he could get into and turn the steering wheel. He cracked up the entire time he was in it and had a total blast. We did have to leave a little early because he got cranky and he DID NOT like the noise makers the other kids were blowing. He started crying every time they blew them, but I know by next summer he will be right there joining in with them. I can't wait to take him again when he gets a little older!
