Jakob is 3 months old!

September 27, 2011
My little sweetie pie Jake is already growing up fast! I feel like I just got used to him being 2 months and he's already turning 3 months old. He is still a sweet chubby little thing that I just adore! He is doing really great in most areas now...the only thing that we are still having issues with is sleeping at night. He is still waking up every few hours just like a newborn. I remember having Noah sleeping through the night at 11 weeks so I sort of just expected that to happen with Jakob as well. It didn't. Not only is Jakob not sleeping, Noah isn't sleeping much either. It seems like I just go from one kid to the other all night long. I pretty much survive by drinking lots of coffee because I couldn't make it otherwise.

Other than that, Jakob is doing great. He is getting more active and can now reach out to grab things, pick up toys, sit up in the bumbo, and is almost rolling over. He is very interactive with us and loves to be talked to and laughed at. If he sees you laughing at him, he immediately starts laughing at you. He also really knows his name well. I can just say "Jakob" once and he whips his little head around and looks right at me every time. I don't think that Noah could do that for awhile (or maybe he was just ignoring me like he does now). He doesn't yell and coo as much as Noah did at this age but he is still pretty loud. He really gets going if he is playing with his toys or if I'm talking to him. Even though this is my second time to experience all of this, it is still just as fun and exciting to watch him grow and learn new things every day. He is at that age where they wake up in the morning looking bigger and do new tricks every single day. I love this age and it goes by fast so I'm just trying to enjoy it as much as possible!

I've got a thumb sucker!

Crazy boys!
I was trying really hard to get a smile out of him for his 3 month picture but this was all I could get...

Day Out With Thomas!

September 26, 2011
We got to take Noah to the "Day Out With Thomas" event this year and we were so excited! He's totally in love with "choo-choo's" so I knew he would have a blast! The day we went was perfect, not too hot, and Grandma came over to stay with Jakob so we had a fun and relaxing day hanging out with Noah. He loved every minute of it. He just went from one thing to the next all day and had an absolute ball. We got to ride "Thomas" at the end but I wasn't sure that he would like that. I thought that he would just be scared and wouldn't realize that we were even on a train but he totally surprised me. He knew exactly what we were doing and was a little angel the entire time. He loved it! The only problem that we had with him all day was at the bounce house. Once he got in that thing he wasn't coming out! We tried everything we could think of to get him out of that thing but nothing worked. He would just keep running away from us. Finally, the girl working it gave us the green light to go in and grab him so Matt climbed into it and drug him out kicking and screaming.

Getting our snacks ready to go see Thomas!
He fell asleep on the way there holding his favorite toy --- the BIG firetruck!
The bounce house...
Blowing on his new Thomas whistle
They had a really cute toy train exhibit set up inside one of the parked trains there and Noah loved it. We sat in there and watched the trains go forever!

Getting his "choo-choo" tattoo...I thought he would pick Thomas or one of the other main characters but he didn't. He chose some random train (I think it's Toby) but it did match his Curious George shirt nicely.

Getting ready to go ride Thomas. He was super excited when he saw the big blue Thomas train pull up.

Finally, we got to take some family pictures with Thomas at the end of our fun day!

Once we got home, Matt decided to pull weeds so Noah helped by getting out the pooper scooper to pick them up and throw them into the trash

State Fair Fun (and some other stuff)

September 18, 2011

We took Noah to the fair this year by himself. Jakob is still a little small to make the trip. Plus, we had a big surprise for Noah...we took him to see Toy Story on Ice! More on that later. We had a great time at the fair before the show though. Noah especially loved all of the farm equipment and the horses. We made the mistake of walking in by the livestock barns and we couldn't get Noah away from them! He also spotting a trash truck picking up some garbage behind the barns and that was pretty much the highlight of the day for him. The kid loves his trash trucks!

I have a lot of pictures on this one so I'll try to be brief...

We hung out by the water while Matt got us some food and it was all I could do to keep Noah from jumping into it. He's mad at me in this picture because I made him stop splashing long enough to snap one.
Eating some Gyros and Indian Tacos...
Next, we visited the Ag barn where they have all of the animals set up for the kids to look at. We did the little farm exhibit they have where kids can plant stuff, pick fruit and veggies, and gather eggs, but all Noah wanted to do was yell at the fake snake sitting on the hay...

Then we found these cute little tractors they could ride (for free!) so Matt and Noah tried it out. Noah loved the tractor but wasn't so fond of pedaling it. Matt had to push him around the entire thing but he still had fun! We had to find a ride for him because he was really into all of the big kid rides but he wasn't tall enough to go on any of them yet. He kept calling the roller coaster a "choo-choo" and probably could have watched it all day.
And we finally made it to the big show! Noah was super excited to go because they had Buzz and Woody stuff EVERYWHERE! Of course he wanted it all and kept running from booth to booth and ended up with a big box of popcorn which he was very happy with. However, once we got into the arena he was ready to go. I should mention here that he had just attempted to go to the movies to see The Lion King with Grandma and it didn't go so well. He couldn't handle the loud movie theatre and had a total melt down so they had to leave right when it started. Fast forward a few days to the fair...once he saw the big room and noticed that it was a little loud he wanted no part of it. I pretty much bribed him with popcorn and pop to just stay for a little while. Thank goodness for Buzz and Woody though! Once they came out he was happy and ended up staying for most of the show. He got a little restless at the end so we left but I was proud of him for sticking it out and we ended up having a great time!

Jakob hanging out with the firetrucks! He wasn't too interested in it yet but that won't last long. He is doing great and is now lifting his head completely up while he is on his stomach and is trying to roll over but hasn't quite got that down yet. He is talking up a storm and coos constantly. His very favorite thing to do though is smile and laugh at mommy, daddy, and Noah. He is still the sweetest baby in the world! We love our little Jakey-poo!

Fun Little Outings

September 8, 2011

The heat is still blazing even though we're moving through September but we have been having some outside fun regardless. This summer was way too hot to do much so we've been trying to make up for it a little. Trying to keep Noah inside all of the time is like having a little tornado in your house that is perpetually tearing it apart from the inside. Last week we did the Zoo, so this week we went for a little walk at the OU campus which is something Matt and I used to do all of the time pre-kids. It's fun to take them to do stuff we like but it's not really all that relaxing anymore, especially when you have to stop and nurse a baby in a park in front of a bunch of college kids.

First things though...Jakob's ear is getting much better. The scabs are still hanging on but hopefully they will be gone soon. He is going to have a bit of a scar but they said that would go away as well. He doesn't seem to notice anything though and is as happy as can be! You can see his little scabs in the picture below:
Another fun thing we've been trying to do again is go back to church regularly. We never quit but we took a little break after Jakob was born because it was hard but mostly because I didn't want to get him out too much until he had his first round of vaccines. He went to the baby nursery for the first time this week. Noah is out of that nursery now and into the big kids (2 yr olds) room. He loves it and they both did awesome! I'm so thankful that we are able to go to church and enjoy it without having to worry about our kids. Neither one of them has ever had issues with being left somewhere or being with new people. We are very blessed!

Here's Jakob after church showing off his nursery sticker:

Here are some fun pictures of us at OU just hanging out:

We also made it to the Yukon park a few times this week. Noah loves to go to the park to slide, play in the dirt, and look at the ducks. This day I had just picked him up from Mother's Day Out and I guess they studied ducks and what sounds they made because he was obsessed with quacking at all of the ducks!

Brothers just chillin at home after a busy week...
