Airplanes and Firetrucks

October 20, 2011
We took Noah and Jakob to the Shawnee Airshow this week because Matt had to work at it and Noah has gotten over his last traumatic airshow experience and now has a fascination with planes. We figured it was time to try it again so I packed up the boys, picked up Aunt B on the way and met daddy at the airshow. Noah was crazy about the whole thing! We got there a little late so they were wrapping up things by the time we got there which was probably a good thing since there wasn't much of a crowd by then. Noah ran from plane to plane just checking them all out. Everytime one would take off or fly by he would start running after it trying to chase it down screaming "Mama look, Airplane!" It was fairly entertaining for us all.

After the excitement of the airplanes wore off a little, we decided to take him over the see the ambulance where Matt was stationed. We got a little closer to it and there it was. A huge red firetruck! Noah went nuts and started running across the pavement (which happened to be off limits to the public and where they were parking and refueling all of the planes) to see the firetrucks. Luckily, the ambulance was parked right next to it so Matt took off after him to introduce him to the firefighters and let him see the firetruck.

They were really nice and let him get up in the cab and hold the firehose which was by far the highlight of his day. He was yelling and screaming about the whole thing which happened to draw the attention of several other little boys in the area. Before we even knew what was happening, a line had formed behind Noah of little boys waiting to hold the firehose. I feel kinda bad for starting the whole thing but it was really cute. The firefighters were really nice and let all kids have a turn. I'd say the outing was a success!

Oh, and Jakob did great too! Aside from having to nurse him in the middle of the airshow in the back of the ambulance we didn't have any issues with him. He's still really laid back and easy to take places. It was a really fun day and we'll probably hit the next airshow when it comes back to town.

Naked boys! You can tell in this picture that Jake's legs are pretty much the same size as Noah's around the thigh. He's still pretty chubby!

Spotted the firetruck and took off!

All of us at the airshow
Seriously, Noah can break anything! A wooden spoon? I mean really...
Jacob finally rolled over!! He did it once while playing on his mat so I jumped up and grabbed the camera but he wouldn't do it again for the video. Maybe I'll get it soon! The second picture here is the "after" shot when he rolled over.
