Happy Father's Day! (and some other stuff)

June 30, 2010
We celebrated Father's Day this year at home relaxing since we don't get to do that much as a family these days. Hunter was here so it was nice for us all to be together on Father's Day. The kiddo's gave Matt their cards and we cooked him dinner. It's been awhile ago now, oops, so I don't really remember much else except that we had a great day! We are all so lucky to have Matt in our lives!

We also took a little trip to the airshow that same weekend I believe and that was NOT so much fun. For one thing, it was extremely hot and sticky and that isn't fun when you are surrounded by cement and hundreds of people with a one year old. I could've dealt with that though so it wasn't the worst part of the day by far. We met some friends there who also had a baby with them so we sat under some bleachers to get out of the sun. The kids were okay and we had just settled down with some Indian tacos (I should mention here that we couldn't see anything that was happening with the actual airshow), so we were eating and playing and all of the sudden the loudest airplane (I mean JET) on the face of the planet zooms by at ground level so fast that we didn't even hear it until it was gone. Then we heard it. All I can say is I hope that my child doesn't have permanent ear damage from that day. So we were dropping everything, frantically trying to cover up the babies' ears and they were all SCREAMING at the top of their lungs. That went on for no less than a half hour. That stupid jet just went back and forth over and over. I have never seen Noah so upset in his life. His whole body was shaking and wet from crying and sweating. SO MISERABLE!!! Needless to say we left shortly after that. So, I'll skip forward to the present for a moment, yesterday (July 17) we went to go watch a softball game that Matt was playing in and Noah all of the sudden started freaking out and screaming. I thought that something had bitten him since there were so many bugs around, but no. He had spotted a tiny little airplane up in the sky about 10 miles away and was terrified. I couldn't even hear it but he apparently hasn't gotten over the airshow incident yet. I don't think I ever will either...
Anyway, one pleasant thing that we did the weekend after the airshow was have Kelsey and Cody's wedding shower in Sayre. It was the first time we have been out there in awhile so we had a great time! The shower was really fun and we got to see everyone and all the kids/babies. Noah had an absolute blast! He spent the majority of his time there hanging out with Grandpa and riding the four-wheeler with him. That is one thing that he isn't afraid of at all. I didn't get any pictures because my camera went dead halfway through the shower. Next time though! He loves loves loves to be outside and is totally happy and content as long as we are outside. We haven't got to do that much outside lately though since it's been so crazy hot!
A few pictures of the shower:
Still no walking from the kid. He's getting close to 13 months old now and still can't even stand up (I should say won't because he's just psyching himself out at this point). Everyone says that I should just enjoy these last few weeks that he can't walk because once that starts he's going to be everywhere. I'm trying but I'm getting anxious. It's going to be a HUGE deal when he finally starts walking. I may have to throw him another party.

Even though he's not walking, he's started to do some other really awesome things. One of them is mimicing us all the time. He will do anything that he sees you do. If I show him how to push a little button on one of his toys, he will immediately reach out with his little pointer finger and push it. And do it over and over. The most impressive part though is that he's doesn't forget anything that he learns now. It's so awesome how his little mind is growing and learning things so much faster now, and he can actually retain the information. He has no sign of baby left in him at all. He is all little boy! He is also loving anything that makes loud noises like the lawn mower, hair dryer, vacuum, and magic bullet. Those things always entertain him completely. He sat at the window in his bedroom the entire time Matt was mowing the other day and just watched and clapped. It was really cute and I think Matt even had fun mowing that day.

Noah HATES hats but loves this one for some reason. Maybe because it makes him look like a baby dinosaur...who knows. He pulled it out of his drawer and was trying to cram it on his head so I dressed him up and took a picture.
